“Baby Angels” explores the unlikely relationship between Janet, a
young photographer, and Sweetapple, an aging sculptor. The story takes
place in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where the author has lived since 1991. She
wrote this piece to explore the human tendency towards preconceptions and
show that few people are as they seem on the surface. The story is full of
twists, most of which surprised even the author during the writing
process.
After winning the author an eight-week residency with the
Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of Taos, New Mexico, "Baby Angels" was originally published on Gather.com,
where it won Editors' Pick in the August 2006 New Short-Fiction
Competition. The story subsequently became the author's first Amazon Shorts
offering and spent time as a top five bestseller before the Amazon Shorts program
ended in May 2010.
InkSpotter Publishing is proud to make the
story available again as one of its first Kindle titles (along with The
August Gale).
